5 Easy Steps To A Better Night

5 Easy Steps To A Better Night

We all need a routine in the evening. I struggled with mine for years as I am a definitely a night owl and like to stay up until the latest hour possible. But I understood one day that getting enough sleep is as important as eating healthy meals and drinking enough water. So I decided to follow a little routine everyday (what wasn’t the easiest thing to do for me) and now I wake up at 8 in the morning, every day, with no excuse.

So how can you improve your morning routine? Follow these little steps to a better morning!

  1. Set yourself a time limit for your phone

I know it might be something that people usually don’t do but screen time is important. Scientists proven that taking time off your phone before bed can help you fall asleep and get a better night. Why? Using any electronic devices before bed is messing up your internal clock and suppresses the release of sleeping hormone, melatonin. In simpler words – your body gets gets mixed signals about what time of the day it is and stops melatonin to flow in our body properly, what causes trouble falling asleep or even not sleeping at all. I suggest going off the electronics at least one hour before bed and instead trying to read a book or write in journal. A good conversation with your partner is a good idea too!

2. Eat a healthy meal

Some people say that eating before bed is bad as your metabolism is slowing down during the night and calories you’ve eaten are stored as fat in your body. I say, it is not when you eat but more what you eat. There is no right answer for that one but personally, if I eat something high in fat or calories before bed, it is hard for me to fall asleep and I just toss and turn throughout half of my night. Some say it is fine if you eat a meal before bed but it I would recommend having something light and not crazy-caloric. You should also look out for calories in fizzy drinks too. Fizzy drinks can make you bloated and uncomfortable, so stay away from them before bed!

3. Open windows in your room

Let the air in! I repeat, let the air in! It is important to make your room breathable again. What I mean by that is we are breathing non-stop in our houses and as we all know we breathe in oxygen but breathe out carbon dioxide. It is important to open window and let the carbon go and let the oxygen go. It can improve your sleep quality and make you more energised in the morning! Just let your room ventilate when you’re in the shower or a bath. Make it nice and fresh for you to be in!

4. Use a bedside table lamp instead of main lighting

You know, things you’ve heard about setting the mood are 100% real. Even though this is not about the lighting mood for the various other activities, the less light in the room, the better. It’s best to have a warm lighting in bedroom as it make us cosy and comfortable. LED lights are energy efficient but produce more blue light which can be irritating for our eyes. Try instead go for dim red lights! It can improve your sleep and even help you to stay in your sleep cycle.

5. Meditate

This is something that is not to everyone’s liking but meditation can help to calm your nerves and make you forget the worries of today and tomorrow. Doing it before sleep can easily get you in the “tired” state and might help you to fall asleep quicker. Just remember to space it out and leave at least an hour gap between your meditation session and sleep. You can use the time you have without your electronics to meditate! That way you always have time for it, no matter how much you avoid it. How convenient is that?

Being a night owl, I enjoy number 1 and 3 the most. Which steps are you taking to sleep better? Is there anything else you’re doing that helps you fall asleep? What would you try to get a better night sleep?

Coping With Stress – Tips

Coping With Stress – Tips

Let’s be honest – no one in the world is a stress-free person. There’s always something that turns us into a little ball of anxiety and stress. Whether it is your job, family or just life in general, I know it is not easy to cope with it. I’ve been a stress person since I started secondary school. All the exams, pop quizzes, people not being nice and teachers calling you to the board to solve a problem – all of this was just way too much for me. I never was the brightest person in the world and at school there were topics that I didn’t like or didn’t entirely understood. My Achilles heel was Maths. I used to get so stressed to walk into the maths classroom that my whole body was just shaking.

My teacher used to call me to the board at least three times during lesson, even though she knew I didn’t understand – and that’s what stressed me out the most. I would just stand there, not knowing how to start. I could feel the eyes of people in the classroom on my back. No fun.

I have grown to accept that some things aren’t the way we want them to be. There will always be something that stresses us out, makes us uncomfortable and panicky. I know that I still have some things that make me unbearably stressed out to the point I don’t want to handle them. But there are things we can do to help us to cope with stressful situations.

Connect with people

Try to talk to other people and vent about problems. Make sure the person you’re talking to is a trusted person that understand you as a human being and know that your stress is no joke (believe me, there are people who don’t understand why we stress about various things). It is a good thing to just lay some of your problems and thoughts onto another person. It can clear your head and you get support. It is my number one when it comes to managing my stress. Having someone who will listen and take a part of the burden off of me, maybe even give me an advice.

Take some “me” time seriously

I know some of you probably have kids or pets that need attention almost 24/7 but “me” time is needed for all of us. Try to get one or two days where you can relax and focus on yourself. Give yourself a spa day, paint nails, drink some wine – anything that will help you to cut the stress off, even if it is just a little bit. I personally like to bullet journal or doodle (even if I am not the best at it). It gives me a little time to focus on something else than my worries. “Me” time is seriously neglected sometimes and that’s why we need to start taking it seriously and make time for ourselves.

Go out with your friends

This is the complete opposite of “me” time as some people prefer to surround themselves with people to get a little bit more comfortable and put the stress behind. Try to make plans to keep yourself busy and stop thinking about the problems for awhile. I find it hard to make plans every week of the month with my friends as we all have our jobs and personal lives but we try to meet up at least once a month. This is a good tip for people who have a bigger group of friends. Go out, have some fun. Forget about things that stress you out for time being. Get some happy juice injected into you!

Acknowledge what makes you stressed out

This is an important thing to do. At the beginning of the post I talked about me during Maths classes and how much it stressed me out to be called out to the board. Well, after some time I knew it was inevitable thing that is going to happen every day so I made sure I knew how to prepare myself for it. Acknowledging and getting to know things that stress you out is as important as breathing. By realising what stresses us out the most and letting that information inside is going to help you to manage the stress. Try to sit down, make a list of things that makes you nervous and anxious. Read them. Get to know them. And after some time you will see that you will avoid most of things on your list, some of them you will be prepared for and you’ll know how to manage it.

Breathing exercises

Some of you probably don’t know but breathing exercises can help you calm and make you stay focused on what’s important. Try to be mindful about it. Make get an app or simply Google some breathing exercises. Sit down and try. You never know, maybe it is something that will help you the most? I personally use the app called Senseful – it is a meditation and relaxation app that helps me when I get too over my head with everything. I use it at least three times a week! It’s a free app, has a lot to offer – meditation, breathing exercises and even a little quick game called “meditation game” where you are a little orb of light and you have to follow the instructions on the screen.

What makes you stressed out the most? How do you cope with stress?

Self-love vs. Narcissism

Self-love vs. Narcissism

This post is written by my amazing friend, Wiktoria. I am very thankful she decided to help me out with my blog and take up on a challenge to write this article. You can find her here:

I don’t know if living in 21st century is a blessing or a curse. On the one hand, people are more familiar with the importance of the body positivity and self-love topic, but on the other hand, we are being judged for actually believing in it. It is kind of like we should be aware of its existence in general, but that’s all. But why? Why people need this pressuring urge to tell you what you should and what shouldn’t believe in? To set the rules?

You should love yourself, but not too much. You should be proud of who you are and how you look like, but always try to be a better version of yourself. You don’t have to change, but people don’t like it when you do this and that. You should; you shouldn’t; you have to; you don’t have to… What if you truly love yourself the way you are? What if you don’t want to change because you already are the perfect version of yourself? Does it give you a label of a narcissist?

Self-love and narcissism are often mistaken these times. It is like you shouldn’t admire yourself too much. It is kind of like they expect you to be unsatisfied with the way you are, even if only with the smallest part of your existence. There is always something wrong. There is always a reason to complain. Otherwise, you are just being a narcissist and that’s unhealthy.

According to Cambridge Dictionary,

narcissism means putting too much interest in and admiration for your own physical appearance and/or your own abilities.

It is disapproved and can lead to a narcissistic personality disorder in which someone has too much admiration for himself or herself and too much concern with his or her own importance. Now, tell me, is self-love, self-acceptance and not beating yourself for not being enough of such an issue? Is it wrong to make peace with your own self? Let’s compare.

Self-love is a non-existing term in my favourite Cambridge Dictionary, but you can find it everywhere else around the Internet. Andrea Brandt, a therapist from Santa Monica, speaks out loud about this topic and she even brings up the issue of self-love mistakenly taken as a narcissism. According to one of her articles self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.

Clear, right? Then why people still don’t understand the difference between self-love and narcissism? Personally, I don’t know. Trying to get into someone’s head is pretty tiring and time consuming, that’s why I stopped a long time ago. I still feel the need to educate people, though, so let me tell you something. Loving yourself is never a bad thing. It doesn’t mean you think you’re the best. You are aware you are not and you know that you, as well as everyone else in the entire world, have some disadvantages. You’ve just learnt how to accept them, like them, and love your own self despite them. It’s difficult. It’s a hard journey you have to go through if you really want to get to self-love. And you deserve to be proud of yourself once you get there, or you’re a halfway, or you just started. You have all right to feel good about yourself and no one can take that from you, especially not those who use some terms, not even knowing what they mean.

Did you know that there is a difference? What is the first self-love thing that comes to mind when you think of it?

20 Simple Self-Care Ideas For You To Try + A Story

20 Simple Self-Care Ideas For You To Try + A Story

Self-care, self-care, self-care… It is so hard to make time for an actual self-care these days. People are busy and always on their feet, trying to get the most out of the day. One person can work long days, the other might work nights and sleep all day. It is quite impossible to create a space and time for self-care but I believe that there is always a way around it.

For me self-care is a time in the day where you can just be with yourself and stop for a second. It is highly connected with hygge for me. I like to feel comfortable and cosy when I practise self-care so you won’t see me at the gym wearing tight clothing or working out as it is just simply not entertaining or calming for me. I like to sit and enjoy my company.

I created a little list of twenty simple ideas for self-care. You can do even during your break at work (some of them you can do at work but I wouldn’t recommend having a bubble bath in front of all your co-workers).

  1. Practise affirmations – one of my favourites and best ones when you have a bad day. Just try to give yourself some compliments or tell yourself that you’re strong and can overcome anything that’s thrown in your way.
  2. Read something educational – these days it is hard to find something very educational in a way we actually take something out of the article. Try to find some good articles about how to do something to make sure you will take something out of it.
  3. Read a chapter (or a page) of the book – no explanation needed. Just grab your favourite book and send yourself away in a mysterious new world.
  4. Write in the journal – not for everybody, I know, but it helps me to get through the day when I just pour my feelings on the paper.
  5. Practise mindful breathing – there are many apps that can help you with mindfulness. I use app called SERENITY that gives you various options to choose from.
  6. Stretch for 5 minutes – I don’t know about you but I need a good stretch after every 30 minutes I spend sitting. This one is a good one, especially for people who have a desk job and spend most of the time in a day sitting.
  7. Make yourself a cup of tea – who doesn’t like tea? Oh, you don’t? That’s okay, you can substitute for coffee or any other beverage that you enjoy (let’s just keep away from drinking wine at work. That could go very wrong).
  8. Get yourself a glass of wine – AFTER working hours, when you’re sitting down on your couch, alone or with your partner. Wrapping yourself in a blanket helps a lot too.
  9. Watch a comedy movie – or action movie, or adventure movie. It’s all up to you. You know what you like. Just try to keep away from the sad movies as they usually bring us down instead of cheering us up.
  10. Take a bubble bath (again, do not recommending doing that at work. Would be very awkward) – add good smelling candles and you’re ready for full experience.
  1. Do a little dance session – who doesn’t like to dance?! When we move, the endorphins in our body are woken up and we feel happier. So turn on that one song (you know which one I am talking about) and dance your heart out!
  2. Order takeaway – your favourite restaurant awaits!
  3. Make yourself a little spa day at home – face masks, creams, foot baths, all you can think of when you hear “spa day”. You don’t have to spend a penny for a homemade spa!
  4. Have a picnic date with a partner or by yourself (looking at the clouds can be very calming).
  5. Bake your favourite dessert (and then eat it all by yourself).
  6. Dress nicely for no reason (because you are the reason! Feel sexy in that pretty dress!)
  7. Turn off your phone and meditate or practice yoga – important thing to do when you use your phone a lot. Try to disconnect for awhile and see how it feels to stop receiving annoying messages or emails. Trust me, it is a bliss.
  8. Listen to podcast or good music (I won’t specify because we all have different taste, but you know what I mean – that music that makes you feel good and happy!).
  9. Take yourself out for a drink and a meal (totally recommend going alone instead of going with a partner).
  10. Buy yourself a present – whether it is online or in the shop, just treat yourself to something nice and fun!

It is all about your mental health and how you take care of it. Talking about mental health, if you’re following my blog you might have seen that I wasn’t posting anything for quite awhile and I would like to take a moment to tell you what happened and how I have been managing my stress and anxiety. It a very short story.

I can’t say a lot so they won’t get upset with me again, but my boss acknowledged that I have a blog and a company decided that is it a sensitive information that I am posting. I knew exactly what they were referring to and they decided to open an investigation about it. Taking my anxiety and stress level right now, my mental health went from 10 to -100 pretty quickly. I got nervous and stressed, I couldn’t eat or sleep normally. I was kind of a wreck. It just made my brain a scrambled mess. I was thinking about why would they make an investigation about it if it is my personal life and personal blog?

I just couldn’t be myself anymore. It still stresses me out as it is not resolved at the moment. I am still struggling about it and taking the situation I am at right now (I am being furloughed and I make way less money which makes me stressed about bills and my mortgage) it makes me want to quit my job. I am scared for my future. I was thinking about it for a long time as I want to make my own company from the comfort of my home. And now, I am 100% sure that I am going to quit. It just gives me too much stress to even think about my place of work.

I really want you to advise me on this one. I know most of you will probably not read the story part but the ones that do, please, tell me what you think about it!

Have a great day, my lovelies!

How To Reduce Plastic Waste In Your Home

How To Reduce Plastic Waste In Your Home

I think all of us have heard about global warming, turtles eating straws in the oceans, animals getting tangled in plastic bags every day. Carbon emissions are bigger than ever. Pollution is killing our planet and it is time to do something about it.

Today I wanted to talk to you about plastic waste. There is no way that you haven’t bought anything that has plastic in it. If you’re buying meat in the supermarket – the packaging is plastic. If you ever forgot the bags when you went for shopping – you had to buy another plastic one. Most of packaging these days is plastic because it is cheap to produce. But what about the recycling?

Only half of the plastic is actually recyclable – the other half is one-use only.

It is hard to keep up with all the numbers but to this day there is 46,000 pieces of plastic per square mile floating in the ocean. 8 million tons of plastic is dumped into the ocean every year, where 90% of it is plastic waste! Some researchers claim that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

If we will keep heading to this future, there will be no coral reefs, no fish, no ocean life because of the pollution. We have to do something about it! There are ways to reduce plastic waste in your household and contribute to saving our planet!

Watch the video – it is worth it!

USE JARS

I always start with this. It is a simple change but can do so much good to our planet. Swap the plastic containers you have at home to glass or porcelain jars! It is so much more Eco-friendly! But don’t throw the plastic containers away! Instead, try to re-use them as a decoration in your house or another storage box. Jars are great substitution for plastic and they are much more recyclable!

Little tip: if you decide to throw the jars away, remember to recycle the lids too! Empty the jar, clean it and put the lid back on. That reduces chance of it getting lost during sorting process.

METAL WATER BOTTLES

I own three metal bottles and I don’t move without having one in my bag. There is so many great bottles on the market you can buy. It doesn’t have to be expensive – the prices are starting from £6 and go up. I believe that the cheapest one is probably poor quality and it can leave a metal taste in your water so I would recommend to go for the middle priced one! Once you buy that kind of bottle it will last 12 years so it is something that is worth investing in.

Little tip: always empty your water bottle at the end of the day. This will help your bottle to stay clean and without rust.

FABRIC SHOPPING BAGS

The biggest retailers in the UK have sold 549 million single-use plastic bags in 2019. It is a smaller amount than it was in 2016, where the numbers reached 2.1 billion but I believe that we all can work on that. Buy yourself a couple of reusable bags. Keep it on the sight so you will never forget them when going shopping. This way you won’t have to buy any plastic bags! Simple right?

Little tip: don’t buy fabric bags from the Internet. I highly recommend to buy it from the shop itself as the quality can be deceiving. You need a strong bag that will last you a long time!

AVOID PACKAGED FOOD

Now, this might be one of the hardest things to do as everything is in the plastic containers these days, especially meat or cheese – two things I believe everyone is buying weekly. So how to avoid that? I highly recommend to give a glass containers a go with that too! You can just simply go to the shop where they have a special meat and cheese section you can buy products by pound or gram. I believe it is called a butchery. In Poland, where I am originally from, every supermarket has butchery and cheese section inside of it so you can easily forget about packaged meat and buy a fresh chunk from the butcher itself.

Little tip: Don’t be afraid to ask a butcher to put your meat in your container. Trust, they have no problem with it and some might even be grateful they don’t have to use a plastic wrap!

NO TO PLASTIC STRAWS

Nowadays, there are more and more people in the world using metal or silicone straws and it makes me so, so happy! All you have to do is type “metal straws” in Google and search through millions of sites for your favourite! It is so much better for the world and ocean – we save turtles from eating the plastic by having reusable straws!

Little tip: Watch out for the quality! I bought my reusable straws for a small price and they got rusty pretty quickly so try to find ones that have many positive reviews and have best quality.

GET MILK DELIVERED IN GLASS BOTTLES

It was popular ages ago to have a milkman deliver milk directly to your door. Even though it is not as popular nowadays, there are some shops that still do that! FIND ME A MILKMAN is a site where you can search the milkman by your postcode! They deliver milk to you and then pick up the bottles so they can re-use them again. I think it it a great alternative to the plastic bottle milk.

Little tip: be ready for the price of bottled milk to be a little more expensive than the supermarket ones. It is after all, a glass bottle and fresh product and delivery right to your door!

What do you do to help reduce plastic waste?

Body Positive Babes That Need Your Attention

Body Positive Babes That Need Your Attention

If you are the person who reads my blog regularly, you must know how being body positive is important to me. I talk about it a lot on my Instagram, I love sharing my opinions about it and I wrote a couple of posts on how to be body positive. I think many people associate body positivity with plus size people but body positivity is something that applies to everyone.

We all have something that we don’t necessarily like about ourselves. You maybe were born with something that you don’t like about yourself. Maybe you’ve been in the accident and your body changed. Or maybe you are trying to hide your scars because you think they’re ugly. I have to admit that I hate my body sometimes too. But I blame it on the image that society and Internet painted in my brain; an image I sometimes can’t forget. But there are people who inspire me and make me believe that there is nothing wrong with me and I shouldn’t listen to what other people say.

  1. Megan Jayne Crabbe

This is my favourite person in the entire universe and if I am saying that – I mean it with every piece of my heart! You may know her as @bodyposipanda on Instagram. She’s one of the most positive people I know. Her posts are always so inspiring and I love her videos where she just embraces her body and dance away with such a great attitude. I have been following her on my personal account for about two years now and she helped me throughout so many tough times. She is definitely worth to check out and has a #1 spot on my list.

2. Stephanie Yeboah

Another person whom I love and adore greatly. If body positivity was a person – Stephanie would be it. Just read the caption on the post above. It is so worth it. She’s been inspiring me to be myself for such a long time now and I am grateful for it. Although she probably will never know I exist I treat her like my friend because she’s been with me through the times when no one had my back. Follow Stephanie here.

3. Jules Von Hep

I really had to promote this man – Jules. He is the most hilarious and loveliest person I have ever discovered. Men are struggling with body positivity as well. No thanks to Love Island, men are facing certain standards when it comes to their bodies. There have been increasing body positivity amongst the men nowadays but we still have to show them that is it okay if they don’t have a six-pack or huge muscles. Jules is definitely promoting this mindset. I think he’s fabulous and I love him.

4. Em Ford

View this post on Instagram

At the time this picture was taken… I was the girl with an expensive skincare routine, who found out she had 3 rare health conditions, and nobody to turn to. The girl who felt trapped and too afraid to leave an abusive relationship, so cried herself to sleep every night, covered it up, and pretended everything was okay. The girl who tried her best to keep up appearances and smile through Instagram posts and YouTube videos whilst she dropped to 99lbs, a size 00, and her body began shutting down. The girl who struggled to use her arms, who’s body sometimes didn’t work, who couldn’t remember words or do basic things on a daily basis, yet the doctors didn’t know why. The girl who’s friends barely recognised her. The girl who began to think that maybe she was as crazy as she was led to believe. The girl who didn’t know who she was anymore. The girl who shut herself off from the world. The girl who’s skin began to show the real truth of what she was going through. Or quite simply, the girl who has been through hell and back, to feel as confident and beautiful as she does today. Now if we’re really going to get into specifics, I can assure you that my skincare collection is worth a hell of a lot more than $1,437… but who am I to get in the way of a ‘good meme’ right? I’m just a girl… but I have a story, and my name is Em Ford. This is my story, and I’d love to read yours #imjustagirl. #redefinepretty #skinpositivity #acnepositivity #mypaleskinblog

A post shared by Em Ford (@mypaleskinblog) on

If you don’t know Em Ford, what are you doing?! She’s the girl that has been blogging since 2014 and she’s been very open about her acne. Her Instagram focuses on her makeup looks but also she is not afraid to show her skin (as on the picture above). She can be an inspiration for so many young girls that think makeup will solve the problem and they will love themselves again. Well, newsflash – you have to love your acne skin too to be fully happy with yourself. Em also have a YouTube Channel called My Pale Skin, where she focuses on makeup looks. You have to check her video called REDEFINE PRETTY.

5. Ash Soto

Ash likes to call herself “the girl with the world painted on her body”. You can find her @radiantbambi on Instagram. She has the condition called vitiligo which is a condition that makes your skin lose its pigment cells. She is proud of how her body looks and I am really in love with how confident she is! I refuse to believe she wasn’t self-conscious about it once but now – she is such an inspiration for so many people with or without the same condition. You definitely should follow her for the confidence you want to achieve.

Who is your inspiration? It doesn’t have to be a famous person – it can be a family member or a friend. What do you think about being body positive?

How To Start A Blog – Beginner To Beginner

How To Start A Blog – Beginner To Beginner

Being a beginner blogger, I relate so much to not knowing where exactly to start. I used to be so stressed out on idea that my blog will never have enough views or followers to actually make something from it (as I assume you’re blogging because you want to make money or at least are looking into doing it so in the future). I wasn’t always really confident about having a blog and actually making money out of it. You might have a plan and a vision but you don’t know how to begin.

I wanted to share some of my little wisdom with you and assure you that there is no right or wrong way of starting a blog. If you have an idea, think about it. Think how you will develop your blog over the months and years. You have to look at the bigger picture. Of course, it is easier said than done but at least try. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A WHOLE BUSINESS PLAN when you first start planning.

Create A Vision Board

I highly recommend starting with a vision board. So you have an idea you can see in your head. You know exactly what you want to do and share on your blog. You have everything figured out, right? Well, not quite. Creating a vision board with everything you thought about – name, theme, couple of initial posts and social media setup – and be very eye-opening. You might be surprised how many things you don’t like when you put them down and look at them all together. Vision board is something I used to create my perfect blog. There is always going to be something that will go wrong or be different from what you envisioned. So try to look at things from a different perspective (literally and figuratively).

Start Small

I know that most of you probably won’t agree on this as I have seen so many posts about how to start a blog where people said to go for Business Plan on WordPress from the beginning, but let’s be real for a second. Not all of us have money to go for the one of the most expensive plans here. Some of us won’t be able to start high and that’s okay. Of course, there’s a huge difference between paid plan and free plan but when you only began to blog – it doesn’t really matter. What matters is the content you put out there. After all, the content is what attract people to our blogs. You can work on the looks later on (or create your own graphics for the blog like I did). First, attract people, then make money. It all comes in a pattern, do you see it?

Focus On Content

As said above – looks don’t matter very much if content you’re creating is bad. From the beginning, it is important to create posts that will lure people in and be captivating enough to read though them. Content is the most important on your blog as it states what you are passionate about and what do you like to talk about. Try to forget about the looks of your blog and ask yourself if your blog is interesting and your posts are the best ones you can write. This will help you establish if you are giving your 100% to your blog posts or you just “fake it til you make it” kind of a person. For me, it is very important to create content where people will be able to say “that’s interesting” or “this is useful”. You want people to genuinely like your blog. Even if you would like to start from the expensive plans – it doesn’t guarantee you that you will make money straight away if there is no people reading your content.

Connect With Other Bloggers

If you already have a niche and know what kind of blog you have, try to connect with like-minded people who will follow you because they want to read your work. For example, I like to connect with lifestyle bloggers (if you are one of them, follow me on socials and let’s be friends!) because I write a lot about it. But I also love body positivity people as I am one of them and I am passionate about home decor as well. So if you know what your blog is about and, obviously, want more followers and subscribers, you have got to connect with people who might find you work interesting. I highly recommend doing it so on Twitter as there are so many accounts that can help you grow your audience from the day one!

Pinterest Is Super Important

Before I started using Pinterest I had very few views on my blog because I mainly focused on Twitter sharing. But what I realised is that on Twitter there are most of the same people all the time sharing their content and they won’t lick on your link again if they already did couple days ago. It is quite hard to create blog posts every day so we have to focus on promoting the other ones just for our comfort and peace of mind. That’s why Pinterest is so important – it gives you the flexibility to share you Pins (which you can design yourself on Canva or other graphic design sites, or you can work with ready-to-use templates) and freedom to post anything you would like. It is a bonus if you research for groups on Pinterest where people are sharing blog posts and help each other grow! It is just the other platform where you can connect with and meet people who have the same interests as you.

Tailwind Is Actually Not That Good

Many blogs telling me to keep using Tailwind and make sure I have it as it can help me grow my blog but I have been using it since the beginning of my blogging and it didn’t help me much. The free version of Tailwind gives you only 100 pins you can create and only 30 of them you can share to tribes and then, you either pay for the Premium account (which is $119 yearly) or you wait until the next month to post things again which is not a great idea if you’re trying to make your audience see you right here, right now. For me, the price of the premium account is too high and I cannot afford it so Tailwind is a big flop to me. You might want to try it or you’re already using it, but for me it wasn’t successful. Was it successful for you?

These are just some tips from me to you that I believe to work. What tips would you give to beginner bloggers?

3 Things You Should Do To Improve Your Health

3 Things You Should Do To Improve Your Health

Health is not something you should look at as an optional thing. I know people that are neglecting their health by simply not caring what they do or eat. Some people think that if your health is already not in the right place, there is nothing you can do. For me, there is always a way to improve your lifestyle and health so you feel better.

I went on a little research yesterday to prepare this post the right way. I visited more than 10 sites and have read through all the things you can do to be healthier. I found out a lot of stuff that I have been doing wrong too. I tried to pin-point the most important things to look after. It was a challenge. There is never enough that you do for yourself. Trust me, there’s always something missing. But that is not a point of my blog post today. I wanted to show you that even simple things can help you with your health. It doesn’t matter if you love food and sometimes eat too much, or you don’t know what to do to improve your health the easy way.

Drink Your Water

I know, so simple, right? In fact, there are so many benefits of drinking the right amount of water. Doctors say that you should drink 2.5 litres of water daily. Water flushes the toxins out of your body which seems like a great start to me. It also regulates the body temperature and helps your brain to function properly. It makes you fuller if you drink it before eating, so you won’t consume that much and might lose some pounds.

Other benefits include:

  • it may prevent kidney stones
  • it is great for the skin
  • it may help with your mood
  • it may help you with memory
  • it reduces the bladder infections
  • it improves the exercise performance
  • it helps with digestion

Eat Your 5 A Day

I know people that hate eating their greens. The texture, the smell, the taste – it all is a factor of why some people refuse to eat fruits and veggies. Some people won’t eat fruits unless it is a smoothie. Some people hate salads. And I totally get it. Some of the greens aren’t the best looking or the best smelling ones. But try to choose a couple of them to eat throughout the day. If you like smoothies – make them for breakfast! If you like broccoli – eat it with your dinner. Just try to squeeze in the 5 of them in a day. It can be in any shape – juice counts as well!

What are the benefits?

  • great source of vitamins and minerals
  • perfect source of dietary fibre
  • may reduce the risk of heart disease

Get A Good Night Sleep

That is the hardest part for me. Especially now, when I don’t go to work because of the pandemic, I have been spending much more time awake than asleep. It’s been hard for me to fall asleep and I am not getting enough sleep time in my schedule – not because I don’t want to, but because my body got used to me sitting awake until 2 AM. It’s entirely my fault and I’m aware of that. I have been trying to go back to my normal schedule but it takes time, so I reduced my time on social media and in front of TV and swapped it for a good book!

Sleeping an average of eight hours a day can reduce your stress, put you in a better mood and helps to lower your blood pressure! What’s there not to like right? Other benefits include:

  • improving memory
  • maintaining weight
  • keeping your heart healthy and strong
  • may reduce risk of depression

That’s TOP three things that are important to me to keep in a good health. I am aware that there is more things you may do to improve your health but things above are things that I am trying to do every day of my life. So remember, we all start small! Incorporate those little things in your life and see the difference!

Mix The Colours In Your Home The Right Way

Mix The Colours In Your Home The Right Way

Disclaimer: I am not a professional home designer. I do not have a degree. I just like home decor and wanted to share my view with all of you.

I don’t know about you but I like when people comment on my home decor. I like to hear that they like it and that my home looks pretty with the colours I chose. I kinda like advising about it too, especially when someone asks me for it. Well, nobody asked for this blog post but I figured that it would be nice to share my views on how to mix colours in your house the right way.

There are so many combinations you can use. With painting and decorations – there are no limits. It all depends on your taste and how you want your home to look. Is it a homey vibe? Boho? Modern? Colourful? It all depends on you. Nowadays people go for more neutral colours like white and woods which for me is the cosiest look you can get. Some people prefer to have a pop of colour around the house by decorating with pillows or small furniture. And some people prefer just white.

So let’s talk about how you can mix colours to give special vibes to your guests!

THE SAME COLOUR, DIFFERENT SHADE

This technique is for people who are not fans of bright colours and prefer to have toned rooms (I don’t recommend using bright colours such as blues and yellows with this technique as the room can become too overwhelming). For example, let’s take white – the simplest of the colours. If you want your place to have radiant aesthetic vibe, mix it with other shades of white, like cream and beige. This will give your house a very cosy feeling and make your house look brighter and cleaner! It’s the same with any neutral colour like grey or brown.

GREEN, CREAM AND BROWN

This is personally my favourite if you want to use a pop of colour in your home. I think green and cream mix so well together, doesn’t matter if it’s pastel green or dark green. It creates a little bit of posh vibe – especially if you use royal green or emerald which is a darker shade and add a little bit of brown. I like how cream accents (like cushions or throws) can make your green pop a little bit more than usual. Just add some golds, making it even more expensive-looking and you’re ready to receive all the compliments from your friends and family.

GREY AND PASTELS

This is for all the people that love pastel colours. I think the best colour to mix your pastels with is grey. Why? Because then your pastels will stand our more. If you pair your grey sofa with pastel cushions it will create a cute design where your cushions can shine and attract more pair of eyes. It will give your interior a chilled look, much like different shades of the same colour. I believe that if you choose brighter sofa or bedding, like cream or white, you should look into a little bit brighter colours for cushions or throws – still pastels, but just a little bit more intense. That will help to contrast your interior more.

WHITE AND BLACK

The most modern look you can get is black and white mixed together into perfect harmony. If you want to achieve modernity, clean look and posh look – all in one – those colours are the best for it! Throw some gold or silver decorations with it and you’re good to go. Black and white are the most universal colours out there. They also represent innocence, purity and new beginnings – what’s there not to like?

WOOD AND WHITE

This is by far my most favourite combination. My living room has only white and wood around with the grey sofa sitting in the middle like a cherry on a cake. The Scandinavian look is very popular because it gives you a feeling of cosiness. When you think of Scandinavia what comes to your mind? If it is blankets, cushions and lots of hot drinks then this look is for you. Whether you prefer lighter wood and darker one – white always goes perfectly with it. So if you’re into feeling cosy in your home, try to add some decorations or furniture that has white and wooden bits.

How To Fight The Stress Away

How To Fight The Stress Away

We are living in the times where stressing about things is an everyday thing for most of us. We stress about children and how we are raising them, we stress about work, we stress about making our deadlines and getting things done on time. We never have time for others, especially loved ones, straight away and always have to squeeze them in our tight schedule so we can enjoy their company for a while – and even then we can’t stop thinking about all the tasks that we haven’t done yet. Sounds like you?

No worries, I know so many people like that. It’s hard for us to find time because our jobs don’t give us flexibility. Some may work in the company they hate, some might hate only their boss because they always have to stay longer hours at work even though they don’t want to. Lots of people nowadays make money on Instagram or by blogging about things which makes their living quite pressurised as they have to create content that is likeable and loved by many. And that is stressful enough.

I have gathered some tips on how to fight the stress away and feel better about the things we do.

Your Sleeping Schedule

I think this is the most important thing on my entire list – trying to get your between 7-9 hours of sleep. When we don’t sleep enough or don’t sleep well, we tend to be more cranky and easily irritated the next morning. For example, I didn’t sleep well last night and I got up in a mood where everything that my partner did was annoying and hard to accept. I was angry at him because of that but I knew that it was because I wasn’t rested enough. We become this little balls of stress and nothing seem to go right. I have so much trouble with sleeping so I know how it feels – everything around you seems to be too much. Your brain doesn’t retain information as well and you just can’t function properly. That’s why it is important to get a good sleep – to feel better and do better.

Meditation

This is something I just got into this year but it’s been helping me a lot with calming my nerves and making my day better. I like to do it every morning and every evening. It has a lot of benefits but the biggest one is that it is reducing stress and anxiety so, so well. During meditation, you focus on you – your breath, your thoughts, your body. You are acknowledging the things that make you worried and constantly nervous. It takes you to the state of relaxation and deep, tranquil mind, helping you to let go of thoughts that may cause you stress. Doing it regularly, and it’s been proven, can end up in emotional and physical well-being which, to me, sounds perfect.

Cut the socials

It is an essential thing. Social media can be cruel, creating a bad environment for your thoughts. Nowadays people can post anything they like online and no one can restrict it. It’s a free country, after all. But what comes with it is the negativity and pain. We all went on Facebook once in our lives and the first post out there was about a war, discrimination or other negative things that are happening right now in the world. It makes me so stressed just seeing the post, not mentioning when I go to the comments section. My advice is to cut the social media for a while – give yourself an hour or two in a day where your phone is on silent, your TV is turned off and nobody can interrupt you, I went an extra mile in it and unfollowed every account on my Facebook and other social media that was making me stressed and anxious.

Journaling

I never thought I would say that but journaling helped me throughout the most sad and stressful times in my life. I love doing it because no one is ever going to see what I have put inside. I can rant and I can write whatever I want in there. I can hate on people (especially that one person that always gets on my nerves at work) and she will never know! Pouring your heart out on the paper can help you understand your feelings better. You can also find writing or drawing very de-stressing, like me. The whole point of the journal is that we can get rid of negative emotions, calm down and let the stress stay within the words on the paper.

Read a Book

I know that some of you probably don’t have much time to sit down and read as you may have families to take care of or you are working long hours and just don’t fancy it after a long day. Personally, when I stress about something I like to sit down with a book in my hand and read at least two pages of it. It shifts my focus from stress to what’s the book about and helps me to fight it. According to research, 6 minutes of reading can reduce as much as two thirds of the stress level. How amazing is that?

Walks

I say it a lot and I will say it again – walks are important part of the de-stressing. Just a simple stroll in the park or in the woods can make you feel calmer. Getting a little bit of exercise is a great stress reliever. When moving your body releases endorphins – the happy hormone – and makes you feel a bit better. Just a 30-minute walk can change your mood and you will be able to return to your tasks with a fresh mind!

The things above might not works for all of you. It’s the list of things that work for me and I wanted to share it with you to give you some ideas. You might have your own ways to de-stress. Whatever is right for you, lovely! Let me know in the comments – what you like to do to fight the stress away?
